Tea information:
The Bannockburn Tea Estate, established in 1850, is one of the oldest Darjeeling estates, emerging shortly after the introduction of the first Chinese tea plants to Darjeeling by the British. Its name pays homage to the historic battle of June 23-24, 1314, where Robert "the" Bruce triumphed over the English King Edward II during the Scottish War of Independence. The estate's lush surroundings evoked memories of Scotland for the planters, leading to the christening of the garden as Bannockburn. Spanning 143 hectares in the western Darjeeling valley, it yields approximately 90,000 kg of the finest Darjeeling tea annually. Known for its sweet and floral taste, light infusion, and mid-period harvest.
