The story behind Thé Hidden 

The founder, Chen, comes from a family with a strong passion for drinking tea. Chen has been enjoying various types of tea, especially green tea, since his teenage years. During his studies in Tampere, Finland, his luggage was always filled with high-quality tea from home. 

 Chen discovered that there were only a few local tea shops in Tampere offering tea products, but there was a lack of a space for consumers to enjoy tea, relax, and socialize. Chen’s passion to coffee arises from his journey to Finland. Finland is one of the countries with the highest per capita coffee consumption in the world. In recent years, with the rise of the global specialty coffee wave, Finland's coffee culture has gradually evolved toward higher quality and greater diversity. However, Helsinki remains the core of Finland's specialty coffee culture, while Tampere still has significant potential for growth in this area. This led him to the concept of operating a combined tearoom and Café, where both tea and coffee lovers can sit together to unwind in our space. We aim to provide consumers with a unique customized experience.  

 

The Philosophy of Thé Hidden

 

Our name, "Thé Hidden," originates from an ancient Chinese phrase, "大隐于市," which means "to hide in the bustling city" and represents the highest realm of seclusion: A secluded life can be in busy streets rather than in the woods. The extended meaning is that holding own spiritual in this complicated world is to my will. We aspire for visitors of Thé Hidden to have this experience and feeling—relaxing, unwinding, contemplating, and finding tranquility.

 

Tea of Thé Hidden

 

The history of tea dates back to ancient China, nearly 5000 years ago. China is hailed as the birthplace of tea and the origin of tea culture. Tea has deeply integrated into Chinese life, serving as a significant carrier of Chinese culture. From ancient Silk Road routes, tea-horse ancient pathways, and historical tea trade routes, to the present-day Belt and Road Initiative and 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, tea has traversed history and crossed borders, becoming beloved by people worldwide. However, in Finland, the local tea culture and high-quality tea remains scarce. Yet, we believe that there is a group of individuals who appreciate and seek better tea options, prompting us to introduce premium Chinese tea and also other origins to Finland.

 

 We have visited numerous Chinese tea suppliers, explored tea gardens, and sampled their teas to identify reliable and high-quality sources, ensuring the quality and flavors of the tea. All loose tea available for purchase in our store have undergone internal tasting, resulting in the selection of premium teas. While individual tastes vary, certain qualities remain consistent. Currently, our store offers various types of tea, including green tea, black tea, oolong tea, white tea, yellow tea, pu-erh tea, flower teas, as well as some herbal and fruit teas. They are mainly sourced from China, and also some teas from other origins of tea popular countries.
